About Jeremy Bell —
The Celebrant Behind That Altar Guy
Hi. I’m Jeremy.
I talk for a living.
If you’re looking for a wedding celebrant who stands at the front, reads a script in a serious voice, and disappears as soon as the ceremony ends… I’m not your guy.
But if you want someone who can tell your story properly, keep things relaxed, calm the nerves, get laughs in the right spots — and still absolutely nail the meaningful bits…
HEEYYYOOOOO.
(…I mean, let’s chat.)
I’m a Hunter Valley and Newcastle wedding celebrant, and my job is to make sure your ceremony feels like you — not like a compulsory pre-party speed bump.
So… What Do I Actually Do?
On the surface, I stand up with a microphone and talk about you two.
But what you see on the day is only part of the job.
Behind the scenes there’s a lot of:
Listening
Planning
Writing
Tweaking
Re-writing
And making sure nothing feels awkward, rushed, or weird
Every ceremony I deliver is written from scratch.
No templates.
No recycled paragraphs.
No “Dearly beloved…” unless you’re doing it ironically — obviously.
The goal is simple:
A ceremony that feels genuine, natural, and completely aligned with who you are.
Why I Became a Wedding Celebrant (Short Version)
I’m one of those weird people who genuinely enjoys being on a microphone.
I love writing.
I love telling stories.
I really love making people laugh (I kind of live for it, to be honest).
And I strongly believe weddings should feel fun, joyful, and relaxed — not like a corporate event or a religious ceremony you’re just trying to get through.
So I became a celebrant who does things a little differently.
One who actually takes the time to get to know couples.
One who writes ceremonies that feel real.
And one who delivers them like a conversation — not a performance on a stage.
What It’s Like Working With Me
Couples always tell me these things:
“We felt comfortable straight away.”
“That felt way less scary than we expected.”
“You completely nailed our vibe.”
“Our guests are still talking about the ceremony.”
That usually comes down to a few key things:
A calm, confident presence when nerves hit
Clear guidance so you’re never wondering what happens next
The right balance of heart, humour, and sincerity
Someone who can read the room and adjust on the fly
And yes — someone who will absolutely remind you to breathe.
I’ve heard that’s kind of important, right?
The Big Picture
I’m not here to steal the spotlight.
And I’m definitely not here to phone it in.
I’m here to help you feel:
Comfortable
Supported
Present
And actually excited to be standing up there
If that sounds like what you want from your ceremony — we’ll probably get along very well.
